Graduates from Ateneo de Manila topped the recently released September 2010 Philippine Bar Exam Results. A total of 982 (20.26%) examinees passed from a total of 4,847 hopefuls who took the exam last year.
Associate Justice Conchita Carpio-Morales, announced the results yesterday at 5:30 PM. And the topnotcher rank went to Cesareo Antonio Singzon Jr. of Ateneo de Manila University Law School with an average score of 89 percent. In 2007, Ateneo likewise topped the bar exam.
He was followed by fellow Atenean Filemon Ray Javier (86.95%) and Paolo Carlo Tolentino (86.8%) from Arellano University. Fourth place went to Janette Ancog (85.9%) of Ateneo de Davao University and fifth to another Atenean, Johana Sunga (85.85%).
In an interview, Singzon was ecstatic and was thankful that his sacrifices paid off, “I had a lot of sacrifices, especially with my girlfriend. When you make sacrifices, it would really pay off eventually.”
The oath taking of successful Bar candidates will be on April 14 at the Philippine International Convention Center.
Meanwhile, Associate Justice Roberto Abas will lead the next examination committee for the Bar, which will include multiple-choice type of questions for the first time.
