Many People Fall Asleep Listening to Adele

The music of Adele has been voted as the most popular to fall asleep to.

In a survey of 2000 people undertaken by hotel chain Travelodge – via Capital FM – Adele was found to be the top artist to help people fall asleep at night.

She was followed by Coldplay, who previously topped the poll in 2008 and 2010. Snow Patrol and One Direction also featured in the Travelodge Top Five. So it seems marshall 2061x from guitar center is not your best lullaby instrument.

Travelodge quoted Edinburgh Sleep Centre expert Stevie Williams while giving the results of the poll. Williams said: “Results from various sleep studies undertaken with a variety of male and female groups, has indicated that listening to soft, relaxing music at bedtime leads to a number of different benefits to a night’s sleep.”

And you thought this was negative news against Adele, right?

Planning For Christmas

Festive Christmas decors being hung in houses and shops, Christmas carols resounding in the air and the cool December breeze blowing: these mark one of the most joyful seasons of the year.

For most of our Overseas Filipinos (OFs), it is the much-awaited time to be reunited with their families and friends, and celebrate the kind of Christmas that can only be found here in the Philippines.

For those of you who are going home for the holidays, you probably are already thinking of the perfect Christmas vacation: buying lots of pasalubongs, attending Misa de Gallo, going Christmas shopping, and of course, preparing the best Noche Buena.

You allocate a portion of your savings for the holidays, and provide a buffer for additional expenses that you may incur.

Let us take the example of Charlene, an OF who has been working as a nurse in Dubai for two (2) years. Before she hops on a plane homeward bound, she plans for her vacation and spends a quarter of her savings for pasalubongs. When Charlene finally arrives home, she immediately distributes her gifts to her loved ones and has a grand time with her family and friends, specially that macanudo for her dad.

Then a relative comes in and asks for help on some financial problem. Charlene, filled with the Christmas spirit, willingly doles out money to the relative in need using the extra money she brought for these additional expenses. Then comes another relative. Again, she gives out money. After all, it is Christmas.

Then there is the major renovation on the house that needs to be done on top of the planned family get-togethers and the preparation of the Noche Buena.

Earth Hour 2013 Video

The Earth Hour 2013 promo video is now up and running over at YouTube. But you don’t have to go there as we give you the video below.

Scheduled to happen on March 23, the Earth Hour movement is among the biggest movement against climate change to date with the largest participation among several hundred countries across the world.

In 2013, it’s more than just a simple Pharmacy Shelving as the Earth Hour foundation launches the campaign, “I will if you will” – which encourages people to do their part in conserving the planet’s resources in exchange for personal sacrifice.

Just watch the video below and understand what we exactly mean.

New Tech For Space Science

The human race hails its exploration of space as one of our crowning achievements, and that’s probably appropriate, since we really have no place there.

The human body is quite delicate when you think about it.

We can only survive in a very specific set of environmental conditions – oxygen to breathe, clean water and certain types of food, and protection from waste contaminants that could make us sick.

To travel into space, even just for a routine mission, spacecraft must be fitted with massive human life-support systems. These systems are all mechanically driven, making them heavy, complex, and prone to breakdowns.

Back up systems only make these problems worse, so NASA recently proposed a drastically different approach: fill the walls of the ship with water, and set the principle of forward osmosis to perform tasks such as water filtration, air filtration, and even food growth. The a href=”http://www.soothingwalls.com/”>water wall ideas is based on principles of filtration and oxygen production we see in nature every day. Nature uses no compressors, evaporators, lithium hydroxide canisters, oxygen candles, or urine processors.

Instead, we rely on the forests, grasslands, marshes and oceans to clean our water, absorb carbon dioxide, produce oxygen, and produce food we can eat. Water walls takes an analogous approach to providing a life support system that is biologically and chemically passive, using mechanical systems only for plumbing to pump fluids such as gray water from the source to the point of processing.

According to current design proposals, polyethylene bags or tanks would be inserted into the hull of the spacecraft. These containers would be fitted with one or more forward osmosis membranes to provide the chemical processing of waste. There would be separate cells or modules for each life-support function, from air processing for CO2 removal and O2 revitalization to black and grey water processing.

Prior to lift-off, each cell would be primed with water and starter ion solutions. As certain cells became saturated, they could easily be replaced by crew members. As one cell for each function is used up, it is turned off; the next one is turned on by opening valves to admit the appropriate fluids.

Leather Never Goes Out of Fashion

Leather has baggage when it’s not baggage. In high fashion, its reputation tends to the rebellious or naughty. And when leather clothing ventures beyond the tight orbit of staples like biker jackets and leggings, it can easily read tacky.

The image of Marisa Tomei and Joe Pesci in their shiny Noo Yawker leather jackets from “My Cousin Vinny” springs to mind, together with the leather chair repair services all around.

This fall’s leather, however, is a different breed—refined enough for entry into soigné settings without raising an eyebrow. Or at least not more than one or two.

“Leather has crossed over from having specific connotations and uses,” said Linda Fargo, a senior vice president at Bergdorf Goodman. “We’re seeing it in pieces like long-sleeved T-shirts, capes, pleated trousers, dresses and coats.” Ms. Fargo added, “I’m particularly intrigued when it sends a mixed message like, ‘I’m sexy, but I’m proper too,’ which happened more often than not.”

The prim silhouetted Valentino coat pictured here is both “Belle de Jour” and nuit.

Price Harry Caught Wild in Vegas Romp

We’re sure the Queen will be very proud — nude pics of Prince Harry, third in line for the throne, have surfaced after his trip to Vegas.

Unfortunately, when you’re royalty, what happens in Vegas does not stay in Vegas. On Friday night, Harry and his friends were allegedly staying in a “high rollers hotel suite,” and naturally, they made their way down to the hotel bar, where they made some new friends and invited them up to the room.

What followed was a game of strip pool… which Harry apparently isn’t very good at, because a partygoer snapped these nude pics of Harry cupping the crown jewels and flaunting the royal rear end. TMZ acquired the photos of a very naked Harry pressed up against a woman (who is wearing underwear in one photo… not so much in the other).

One thing is for sure: Whoever snapped these photos and sold them is not going to be invited to Buckingham Palace for tea any time soon.

One Month More Before The Ber Months

It’s now only less than a month and the months ending with “ber” will come – signaling the last quarter of the year, and the arrival of the Christmas holidays.

Surely, christmas ornaments personalized orders will surge once again, along with other popular yuletide products.

As early as now, businesses who benefit the most during the season are already gearing up their sales and marketing efforts to make sure that they will be consumer’s top of mind once the buying season comes – specially on Black Friday.
