A major study published in the Stroke: Journal of the American Heart Association says that drinking coffee provides added protection against stroke.
The results show that people who drink more than a cup of coffee a day are 22% to 25% less likely to suffer a stroke than those who drink less coffee. The study involved more than 34,000 women aged 49 to 83 years old.
However, a similar study done by the same Swedish team last 2008 shows the same results for men who drank coffee or tea.
The cause for the benefits is still uncertain, but the researchers mainly attribute it to the antioxidants contained in the drink.
Other research in the past have also suggested that coffee helps in preventing cognitive decline, can boost vision and heart health and reduced the risk of liver cancer.
Now that’s another reason for you to enjoy another cup of coffee today.
