Derek Jeter made baseball history as the 28th player to reach 3,000 hits last Saturday and he did it with a home run during the third inning in Yankee Stadium, which now makes him the first player in the history of the Yankees to reach the magic number.
Jeter has always been ahead in hits and the first player to have 3,000 hits since 2007, with Craig Biggio of Houston. Interestingly, Jeter did this by solely playing shortstop and beforehand, Jeter never won a batting title.
“It’s kind of hard to enjoy it when there’s a lot of negativity that’s out there. Hopefully, I might be able to enjoy it the next few days,” Jeter said during an interview a few days before he made the milestone.
