Many thought the game would go overtime, then Michal Handzus found an opening and scored to take the Los Angeles Kings to a last minute victory against the Dallas Stars on Sunday.
Handzus made the tiebreaking goal with only 20.8 seconds remaining on the clock to end the game with a score of 3-2.
Seconds before, Jamie Langenbrunner tied the game to 2-2 for Dallas after Alex Goligoski’s failed attempt. With less than a minute left, the Kings didn’t want to settle for overtime.
Handzus made his way to the front of a crowd of players and successfully steered past Alexei Ponikarovsky’s feed to shoot the winning goal against Kari Lehtonen’s defense.
This victory extends the Los Angeles Kings winning streak to three.
